Programs Committee
The Programs Committee is responsible for choosing meeting topics, arranging for speakers, and coordinating refreshments for each meeting. The committee meets once a year to coordinate upcoming meetings. If you have suggestions for topics or would like to become involved with Programs, please email Noga.
Membership Committee
The Membership Committee is responsible for check-in at meetings, maintaining the membership database and distributing emails. This committee also initiates activities aimed at recruiting new Chapter Members. If you're interested in learning more about AWIS and membership, please contact Reem.
Community Outreach
The AWIS-PA Outreach Volunteers offer their time and talents to further science education and career awareness in our local communities. The goal is to provide learning opportunities to support teachers, hands on activities that are engaging to show science is fun, develop your leadership and teaching skills. Our volunteers leads Young Explorer hands-on activities, serves as email mentors, career day speakers and science fair judges. We sponsor a prize for best high school female project at Synopsys Championship, a regional ISEF affiliated science fair. And, serve as a resource for requests from the community and a network of ideas. If you would like to help, please contact Katy.
Mentoring
The Mentoring Committee strives to build bridges between professional women scientists in the Bay Area and women postdocs and graduate students of science at Stanford University through a one-on-one mentoring program. The Committee believes that sharing our time, our experiences, and our friendship in mentoring the young women graduate students of today, we will be assisting the creation of the scientific leaders of tomorrow. The 20202-21 Menoring Program Committee Co-Chairs are Qiwen Zhang, Belgin Yalcin, and Katy Taylor. For more information email the Mentoring Program.
Scholarships
The Palo Alto AWIS scholarship program reflects this organization's commitment to improving educational opportunities for women in science. Our chapter offers $1000 student scholarship awards to women majoring in a science subject at either De Anza or Foothill community college. To serve in the scholarship application review committee, please contact Reem.

The webmistress maintains our website, updating it a few times a month so that it is current. If you have experience in website design and interested in maintaining the website, please email Reem.
Newsletter
The newsletter is produced twice and year and provides articles on previous meetings as well as articles of interested to the scientific community. They contain committee updates, upcoming events, and chapter information as well. The newsletter committee is responsibel for soliciting articles, writing articles, and formatting the newsletter. If you would like to submit an article or help out, please email ask Linda.
