Beyond Unconscious Bias
INCLUSIVE LEADERSHIP
AWIS-NCC Workshop
Saturday February 22, 2020, 8:30AM - 3:00PM, Boehringer Ingelheim Fremont, Inc.
KEYNOTE SPEAKER:
CARIN TAYLOR Chief Diversity Officer, WORKDAY “Diversity and inclusion are less about a program, and more about helping people become comfortable enough to have a dialog about their experiences—including times when we have felt like an outsider,” says Taylor. “Only through talking can we connect with others and gain a better understanding and appreciation of our differences.” – Workday Blog LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP MARILYN NAGEL Chief Learning Officer, SAMI Ready, Aim, Inspire: http://www.ready-aim-aspire.com/ |
Workshop Goals:
- Understand why diversity and inclusion is a business imperative and the cost of downplaying differences at work.
- Discovery of the impact of individual conscious and unconscious bias through demonstrations of perceptual and cognitive illustrations. Review the impact of bias on group dynamics and decision-making as well as strategies to put in place to counter them.
- In the Action and Accountability portion of the program, leaders look at behaviors that impact organizational/team culture and commit to individual and group actions to create an inclusive culture.
The combination of these elements is designed to help leaders shift their mindsets and behaviors. The Inclusive Leadership Program serves to broaden thinking and behavior change reflected in conversation from one about problematic issues and people to one about solutions and commitments to an ongoing culture where everyone can thrive.

Saturday, April 1, 2017 8:30AM-2:00PM, Genentech, South San Francisco
Do you want to become a successful leader in a fast-paced and rapidly changing work environment? Join us for an interactive workshop on Design Thinking with Christopher Ireland, the coauthor of "Rise of the DEO". Here you will learn a unique perspective on leadership and gain the innovative strategies and skills you need to unleash your inner leader. |
Design executive officers are a hybrid of strategic business executive and creative problem-solver. These leaders are not necessarily trained designers or in design positions. They are catalysts for transformation and agents of change. In this workshop, learn not only why this form of leadership is essential to the success of modern organizations, but also what characteristics are common to creative business leaders. Identify these skills in yourself and how to use them to propel your career.
Workshop Leader, Christopher Ireland. Ireland worked for 20 years growing and developing Cheskin, a consultancy focused on product and market design innovation. Under her leadership as CEO, the company expanded into global markets, opened four offices, completed two successful mergers and gained a reputation for top quality performance serving a range of high growth clients including Microsoft, Intel, HP, Motorola, Pepsi and more. |
