THE KORSMEYER FAMILY AWARD
Chapter Volunteer of The Year
Drs. Katy and David Korsmeyer established the Chapter Volunteer of the Year Award to recognize members and their behind-the-scenes volunteerism that exemplifies what the Association for Women in Science means at the local chapter.
A non-profit membership-based organization depends on its local members to carry out all the tasks that keeps an organization running, make memorable events happen, and develop leaders and personal opportunities for themselves and their fellow members. None of which can happen without dedicated volunteers. These unsung heroes may have worked a long day, taken care of family and children, or are, oftentimes, involved in volunteering with several organizations or wear several hats at organizations of interest and passion to them. This award was established to honor and recognize exceptional volunteers at each local chapter comprising AWIS Northern California Chapters.
